Titanium-Based Powder Alloy    
 
Titanium powder is used in demanding applications that require low weight, high strength, and high corrosion resistance. Applications range from shoulder implants to jet engine components.

Crucible Research produces pure, spherical titanium powder via our patented titanium gas atomization (TGA) process, which produces spherical, segregation free powder that is used in some of the world's most demanding environments.

During atomization, the reactive molten titanium is contained within a self-generating thin solid shell or "skull" of the same composition, formed at the interface of a cooled copper crucible and the molten titanium. The skull ensures that the molten titanium only has contact with itself, virtually eliminating contamination.

The prealloyed melt produces a high-quality, homogeneous powder that has excellent flow characteristics and a high tap density.
